what size chainring/sprocket should i have on my bmx?
i have a blank frank but im going to change the chainring/sprocket to one that suits freestyle/jumping can you tell me a size (smallest one)
driver to sprocket sizes
driver 8-22*** (only profile does this that i know, and it is VERY expensive)

If you take the driver or free wheel than divide the tooth number by the sprocket tooth number you will get a percent gearing.
9/25= 0.36 or 36%
This is the standard gearing for a bmx bike. The lower the gear percent the harder it will be to pedal, but you will generate more speed from each pedal you take. I run 9-29 so it is difficult to pedal but i can go much faster.
if you were running a 16tooth free wheel to a 16 tool sprocket
16/16= 1.00 or 100%
that is known as 1 to 1 gearing. you pedal once, your back wheel will go around once.
The percent gearing is only on way to look at this. You could also consider the ratio by dividing the front sprocket by the back sprocket.
so 25/9= 2.78. For every full crank you take the back wheel will turn 2.78 times. For a lot of people this way is easyer, but i stick to my own devices.
