Bicycle Noises?
Yeah i got this moutain bike very recently and it was great at first. Till one day, i think my friend (hes quite plump) sat on my bike and now my seat is making some noises. Im quite sure its the seat cause when i stand while i bike i only hear my left pedal making some noises too -.-. So in conclusion: my bike is making 2 noises, 1 from my seat the other from my pedal. So any bikers have any tips to silence these noises? Thank You for sharing, cause i need to tell the service man at the bikeshop my problems but i find it hard to comunicate as i dunno the terms of the bike parts etc. Thank You for reading ^_^ your reply is much appriciated.
okay i got it fixed already, turns out to be loose parts lol. thank god. Thanks all too.! hope anyone have the same problem will come and refer to this great responses. ^_^
Depending on what kind of bike you have, (yeah it does matter) and what seat you have, it could be one of a few things. 1) Remove your seat post ( the thing the saddle sits on top of, usualy held in with a quick release or a 5-6mm hex bolt) and grease the snot out of it with pretty much any wheel bearing grease. Reinstall. 2) loosen the bolt(s) that attach the saddle rails to the seat post (under the seat) and grease the threads of the bolts(s) and re tighten. 3) sometimes the rails of your saddle will loosen in the plastic molded holes of your saddle and this can cause squeaking. There is realy nothing that you can do about this longterm other than replace the saddle. One last thing, I have seen a bunch of Gary Fisher bikes and other good quality aluminum bikes develop a squeak or a click that some shop guys cant hunt down. What happens is if an extra long seatpost is used and it is not extended very far out of the seat tube, the base of the post will rub and knock on the inside of the seat tube. This is only heard when seated, and you will hear it both coasting and pedaling. The fix is to remove the seat post and cut off whatever material is not needed on the end of the post, being careful to leave the minimum length in the seat tube for safe riding when the post is fully extended to comfortable riding position. Give those a try.
